Depression after Delivery. Friday, Aug. 1, 7:30 p.m. at South Shore Hospital. Class is designed to help women who are experiencing emotional difficulties after childbirth. Partners are also encouraged to attend the meeting. For more information and registration, call 781-340-3704.
Respect for Parents Day Breakfast. Friday, Aug. 1 at 8:30 to 10 a.m. at 99 Bishop Allen Drive, Central Square, Cambridge. Kathleen Dennehy, former commissioner of Corrections for the Commonwealth, to address parenting services. Any one in attendance is encouraged to bring a donation for Children of Incarcerated Parents. Your Visits with the Pediatrician. Aug. 5, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Lowell General Hospital in the Lowell Room. This is a free class that will help parents understand what to expect, what questions to ask and more. Taught by a mother of four who is a pediatric nurse, with 10 years of experience. Infant Massage. Saturday, Aug. 9 and 16, 10 to 11 a.m. at Lowell General Hospital in the Lowell Room. This two session class will teach massage techniques to improve sleep, relieve gas, tone muscles and aid growth, soothing a colicky baby among other things. Shopping on a Budget at Whole Foods Market. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 6:30 to 8 p.m.at the Whole Foods Market at 40 Railroad St in Andover. This is a free event hosted by Holistic Mom’s Network. The tour of the market is lead by a Whole Foods Market Specialist and in addition to learning tips for saving money, will include samples of food, goodie bags with coupons and massage therapists will also be in attendance. Great Beginnings. Tuesday, Aug.19. 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. at the Isis Maternity Center in Needham. This 6 week course is designed to help new a mother deal with the changes they are facing with the birth of their child. Babies beginning the class should be 2-10 weeks old. Parents Forum. Saturday, Aug. 23 from 2to 4:30 pm at 99 Bishop Allen Drive, Central Square. This forum is great for parents, couples or a parent and teen, and also school and faith community parent group members and it’s leaders. Registration is $20 per person, and $15 for each additional person from a family or organization. Registration is not necessary, and payments will be made on the day of the forum. Boot Camp for New Dads. Saturday, Aug. 23 9 a.m. to noon at Lowell General Hospital in the Lowell Room. Veteran fathers will teach rookie fathers the basics about being fathers. Topics discussed include how to comfort and hold their babies. Along with the $40 class fee, fathers will also receive Hit the Ground Crawling: The Essential Guide for New Fathers by Greg Bishop. Adoption Information Meeting. Tuesday, Aug. 26 6:30-8:30 at Wide Horizons for Children in Needham. All are invited to learn more about the adoption process and the various programs that Wide Horizons have to offer.
